Introducing a new theory · Developed by Andrew Hough

Don't just compete for visibility.
Change the information environment.

Search Takeover™ is a theory and framework for defining, deliberately influencing and measuring the information people and machines encounter around a subject. Developed from years of real-world work across the MrYouWho Media Network.

01 / The concept

The environment is the subject.

A ranking is one result. A video is one source. Search Takeover examines the wider system of information and relationships that determines what can be found, encountered and synthesised.

Become the Information Environment: Google, YouTube, AI, social media, reviews, comparisons and retail connected around a product or service

Search Takeover, explained by its founder.

Andrew Hough introduces the theory, the Information Environment and the six-stage framework developed through the MrYouWho Media Network.

Watch the existing short introduction below. A full-length founder introduction is in preparation.

03 / The framework

A defined intervention. A measurable change.

Six stages connect the theory to practical application. No universal content formula: the environment determines the resources.

01Define the Takeover™Choose the exact subject you intend to influence.
02Define the Takeover Environment™Bound the sources, questions and relationships that matter.
03Assess the Takeover Opportunity Score™Examine how open or established that environment is.
04Determine required information and resourcesDesign an intervention for this particular environment.
05Implement Search Takeover™Introduce the information, evidence and relationships required.
06Re-measure and re-scoreDocument what changed and how the opportunity shifted.

Define the subject you are assessing. This assessment uses your own observations, not a live search scan.

EXPLORATORY MODEL · NOT THE OFFICIAL TOS FORMULA

Explore your Takeover opportunity

Assess the environment you want to influence. Move the sliders based on your observations; the score changes instantly. Higher = more open opportunity. Lower = more established competition.

How many relevant questions remain unanswered?

How fragmented are the available sources?

How little credible independent coverage exists?

How many credible competitors or established sources already occupy the environment? More occupancy means less remaining opportunity.

How many relevant discovery surfaces appear unoccupied?

Illustrative Takeover Opportunity Score™

50%Illustrative occupancy
5Factors explored

High illustrative openness suggests potential information gaps. A lower value suggests a more established environment. Neither is a forecast or guarantee of a successful Takeover.

ILLUSTRATIVE CALCULATOR — This is a self-reported educational model, not a measured live result, validated forecast or the final proprietary Takeover Opportunity Score™ methodology. We will update it as the research develops.
What does my Takeover Score mean?

Your opportunity

An open environment may offer more room to establish relevant information sources.

Your exposure

The same openness can also allow competitors to enter, including when you already operate in this environment.

Paid advertising

Advertising can provide another route into an environment. The score does not measure ad auction competition or advertising prices.

What should you do?

Examine the specific information gaps, existing sources and discovery surfaces before deciding what to create or protect. Reassess after any intervention.

Your next step

Get your Takeover Opportunity Report

Your score is free to view. Enter your details to request an emailed copy of your illustrative assessment and suggested next steps.

By requesting the report, you agree that we may use your details and assessment to send it and respond to your enquiry. Marketing is optional. See our privacy notice.

Email delivery requires the website's secure email service to be configured before launch. You can download your report now.

04 / Origin

We saw it happening first. Then we built the theory to explain it.

The framework emerged from repeated patterns across real product reviews, comparisons, video, websites, marketplaces, social media and AI-mediated discovery.

THE ORIGIN

Techmi FacePro

A real-world example that helped reveal how a network of information could occupy multiple discovery surfaces.

THE EXTENSION

Anker SOLIX

An examination of how product information can surface in searches that begin with competitor comparisons.

THE EXPERIMENT

Experiment Zero

Search Takeover itself becomes a defined subject, with its public Information Environment documented as it develops.

05 / The public challenge

Five businesses. Five Takeovers.

We are selecting five businesses for the inaugural Search Takeover Challenge. We will define each environment, capture a baseline, apply an agreed intervention and document what changes.

06 / Build the field

Research. Education. Real-world application.

A new theory deserves more than a landing page. Explore its definitions, developing methodology, case evidence and future education.

RESEARCH

The white paper

A research programme documenting the theory, origin, methods, evidence and future prospective tests.

EDUCATION

Search Takeover Academy™

The dedicated home for learning the concepts and, in time, applying the framework.

MEASUREMENT

Takeover Opportunity Score™

A developing method for examining how open or established a defined environment may be.

EVIDENCE / EXPERIMENT ZERO · 15 OCTOBER 2026

From no established presence to an Information Environment across Google.

Three weeks earlier, the Search Takeover™ theory had no established presence in the Google results we were examining. We then deliberately published connected videos, Shorts, articles and social content through the MrYouWho Media Network. These screenshots show what appeared after that intervention.

BEFORE · SEPTEMBER 2026Before the theory was published

Searches for “search takeover” did not establish Andrew Hough’s six-stage Search Takeover™ theory. The information environment was largely unrelated to the new framework.

This is a visual reconstruction of the recorded pre-launch observation. The original screenshot for this exact query has not been recovered. A separate Google baseline screenshot dated 19 September 2026 is documented in the research archive for a different query.

INTERVENTIONPublish and connect information assets

Original explanations, YouTube videos and Shorts, website articles and social posts introduced the theory across multiple discovery surfaces.

AFTER · 15 OCTOBER 2026

One subject. Multiple discovery surfaces.

Actual Google Search results for Search Takeover, captured 15 October 2026

Actual screenshots supplied by the founder, captured 15 October 2026. The before-state is a labelled reconstruction of the recorded starting observation, not an original screenshot. Search results vary by date, location and user. This example documents visibility after publication, not an isolated causal experiment.
